Fraser Island Pt.1 | Australia Day 3

Welcome to Fraser Island!
Early in the morning, even before the sun came out, we got on a bus to catch a ferry to go to the sand island - well that's a lie, the sun was out, but it felt as though it shouldn't because it was so early.
We had booked this tour in advance from Germany, because we knew we really wanted to do it and since we were quite restricted with how long we could stay, we took the easy way out and chose the full guided tourist tour that featured all the most imported points on the island.

First stop: the ever so famous Lake McKennzie. When we arrived there were a few clouds in the sky, but we still went for a swim in the crystal clear water. It was pretty cold, but worth it, because it really is beautiful. As with all the destinations on the island, try to get there early or hope to be lucky to be on an early bus. We were quite late, so the beach was already packed with tourists. But turned out, we were so late, everyone left before us, so we had a few quiet minutes before we too had to go for lunch and on to the next stop.

Next stop turned out to be a hike through the rainforest. I wasn't too thrilled at the beginning - especially since it also started raining at one point - but afterwards I was glad I didn't skip it. I would recommend everyone to take a trip into the green jungles on the island when you visit, there are some pretty spectacular sceneries to see and it's amazing how many different plants you can find.

To conclude the first day, we were dropped of at the beach just in time to watch the sun setting into the ocean. From there we went to our little lodge we shared with some of the other people on our tour and fell into our beds, tired from the day but excited what the next one would bring.
And now prepare for the sunset overload (I just couldn't leave any of those pictures out):

I had to split the Fraser Island trip in two, as there were just too many pictures. I don't want to sort out too many, because they are all so beautiful, but I also don't want to throw too many at you at once. So day two will follow in the next post.
Have a wonderful day and don't forget to smile.
