Visiting Berlin - Friedrichsstadtpalast And Other Palaces

If you read my What I Got for Christmas post you might know that my boyfriend and I had planned a trip to Berlin sometime this year. And in early april it finally was time to get on the train and head towards the capital. We left early in the morning as it's a 5 and a half to 6 hours train ride and arrived shortly after noon. First thing we went to the hotel to check in and get rid of our stuff. We stayed at the Amedia Hotel which is located on the Kurfürstendamm. Each room represented a different country and ours was China. There was a huge picture of the chinese wall above our bed.

After we had touched up a little and changed for the evening, we went out to do a tiny bit of sight seeing before going to the Friedrichsstadtpalast to watch the SHOW ME revue. We took a look at the Victory Column and walked by Bellevue Palace on our way.

The show was AMAZING! There was sand, and water, and glitter, and bubbles and even more glitter. Sometimes it was a little over the top, but that's just how revue is and I thought it was awesome. I had a smile on my face throughout the whole thing and at some point I even shed a tear, because I realized just how much I miss dancing and being on stage. All in all the evening was really great and I can only recommend to go and see the show as long as it's still running, since there will be a new show from october on (which will probably be equally good, but still, go watch it if you're in Berlin!).

Dinner was so good
The next morning our first stop was Charlottenburg Palace. It was really pretty even though the weather still wasn't the best. Knowing we wouldn't miss much weather-wise we went to the Story of Berlin museum including the tour of an old bunker, which was quite interesting.

After this we walked down Unter den Linden starting at the Museum Island, passing Berlin Cathedral, Gendarmenmarkt and other sightworthy monuments, finally reaching Brandenburg Gate. Here we sat down for a while, enjoying some Starbucks while watching the people around us.
Can't get enough of this little guy.

As this is getting quite picture heavy I am going to continue with the second half of our trip next week. Hope you enjoyed it so far.

What is your favourite city you've been to so far?
